I had a couple amazing days of adventure riding my Africa Twin in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
After hours of searching google maps and plotting a route in Rever I had an ambitious route planned with plenty of shorter options.
Day 1: Started in the Sacramento Valley and picked up my buddy in Auburn. Back roads and some dirt took us to Nevada City for fuel stop, lunch and some minor bike adjustments on my buddies BMW GS1200.
We found dirt just out of town and found amazingly beautiful roads and vistas that followed the Yuba River, past a few lakes and some rocky trails around Bowman Lake. We started hitting snow around Bowman so we decided to high tail it to Reno once we got to HWY89.
A luckier night for me than my buddy turned into a Frosty Reno morning.
Day 2: After scarfing down a bagel and wiping the frost off our bikes we were off to a brisk ride back to Truckee. My buddy had to stay on the freeway to get home earlier and I decided to take the Solo ride from Donner Lake to Meadow Vista by way of dirt roads.
I had quite the epic ride from the amazing road between Donner Lake and Donner Pass to the snow covered trails while leaving Soda Springs. The brisk morning turned into the 70 degree day that we all dream of. Aside from some snow up high the trails were perfect from the rain that came days earlier. I ran into a few logs in the road that I had to pull out of the way or find a way around.
The perfect weekend almost ended down on the tarmac after I found some oil or diesel fuel in a corner on Jim Yankee road between Foresthill and Meadow Vista. Luckily my instincts are still working and I recovered right before getting back on the dirt.
Each day was about 200 miles with LOTS of dirt.
My Scotts Stabilizer was a huge improvement in the rocks around Bowman Lake and on the snowy trails coming out of Soda Springs. We’ve been hearing great stories from customers about their Motorcycle Adventure Bar Riser / Scotts Stabilizer kit giving them huge confidence in rocks and nasty terrain.
